BAY CITY, Mich. – Along with nearby Pinconning and Bangor Townships, another Bay County community is also opting in on the possibility of medicinal marijuana coming to their city.
The Bay City commissioners voted in favor of the issue tonight by a vote of five to three.
The move opens the door for businesses connected to Michigan’s marijuana law to possibly open up shop in the future.
One commissioner we spoke to explained why he’s not against medical marijuana, but just wasn’t quite ready to vote yes right now.
“Maybe after the first of the year when the state gets their act together and the feds start looking at it stronger then we can do it, but I just don’t think we are going to miss out on all of this money and everything let Bangor do it, let Pinconning do it,” said Firs Ward Commissioner Lynn Stamiris.
Commissioners will now come up with laws and regulations, to determine where or when those businesses could open up.
There is no time frame on when that has to be completed.
