The 47th annual Hash Bash celebration will begin long before the crowd gathers on the Diag. Happenings begin on Friday and continue through Sunday as the Ann Arbor area embraces a weekend of cannabis culture, advocacy and celebration.
On FRIDAY, start the weekend off in neighboring Ypsilanti with the Michigan NORML’s Quarterly Meeting at the Eagles Club. The state’s longest-running marijuana law reform organization holds this event every year. 2018’s event will feature a free BBQ lunch, an organizational update, presentations from candidates for office and sponsorship by cannabis businesses. Also starting on FRIDAY, the Hash Bash Cup fires up at the Wyndham Garden Hotel on Jackson Avenue. This is a much bigger event than the name implies. Last year the group took over an entire hotel for the weekend; this year, they have taken over TWO hotels! The Wyndham common areas feature booths from non-profits and corporate entities, and all rooms have been rented to cannabis friendly individuals. Events are scheduled at the hotel for all three weekend days. Rooms are all reserved. Begins at 3pm on Friday; awards will be presented on Saturday night. LINK
On SATURDAY, the Monroe Street Fair is a no-holds-barred open smoking environment on a two-block stretch of Monroe Street. Booths selling accessories and clothing for the 420 lifestyle line one side of the street. The fair runs from about 11am until 6pm. A stage will rotate bands all day long, and each year thousands of fair goers attend. This is THE place to be at 4:20 on Saturday! LINK
