KALAMAZOO, MI — A man started off 2018 behind bars after police say he was caught shooting a gun from the back porch of a home about midnight on New Year’s Day.
About midnight on Jan. 1, 2018, Kalamazoo Public Safety Sergeant Derrick Turner heard gunshots in the area of Princeton Avenue and Paterson Street. Turner observed a male shooting from the back porch of a residence in the 1300 block of Princeton, police said in a news release.
Several officers responded and surrounded the house. A search warrant was executed and officers found two handguns, one that was stolen out of Van Buren County, several bags of crystal meth and marijuana.
The 54-year-old man was arrested on several felony charges including possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of a stolen firearm, felony firearm, maintaining a drug house and possession of marijuana, police said.
